Plan the water interruption before starting the repair
Replacing an inaccessible valve or altering pipework may require a water interruption that affects more than the fitting being repaired. Tell us whether you know which supply serves your home and whether any isolation is controlled by the building. Do not test a stiff or unfamiliar shared valve by forcing it.
For planned works, explain which rooms must stay usable and whether other occupiers need notice. We discuss the intended isolation, access and reinstatement as part of the scope. If control of the water supply cannot be established safely, the work may need coordination before it can proceed. An appointment should not be treated as permission to interrupt a neighbouring residence.
For a Belgravia house or apartment, establish who owns and maintains the equipment before a repair becomes an alteration. A residence may have lease, estate or building requirements in addition to council controls. We ask about the actual installation rather than infer it from a period façade.
